Hybrid Technology -USA - Binghamton transit to become "living laboratory" for
BINGHAMTON, N.Y.,USA -WCAX (Burlington,VT) -20 June 2006: -- The Binghamton-area transit system is to be used to develop the next generation of hybrid bus technology.... Congressman Maurice Hinchey says he's now secured a total of three (m) million dollars for the hybrid bus project... The technology for the buses has been developed by B-A-E Systems in Johnson City, just west of Binghamton. The vehicles are manufactured by Orion Bus Industries in the Utica area... Hinchey says Broome County Transit will use the federal funding to provide what he calls a "living laboratory" to refine and improve hybrid bus equipment...
