KSRTC, BMTC to increase Volvo bus fleet
State government proposes to effect 5-7 per cent hike in bus fares
Bangalore,Karnataka,India - Business Standard -Apr 19, 2006: -- The Karnataka government is set to become the owner of the largest fleet of Volvo buses in the country with the Karnataka State Transport Corporation (KSRTC) and the Bangalore Metropolitan Transport Corporation (BMTC) planning to acquire more of these hi-tech buses by August... Announcing this Karnataka's transport minister C Cheluvarayaswamy said KSRTC already owned 111 Volvo buses... “Another 39 buses will be acquired in three months to increase the fleet strength to 150. Similarly, BMTC has placed orders for 43 Volvo intra-city coaches to enhance its fleet capacity to 50 from the existing seven,” he added.
