Faulty Buses - Malawi - MPC gets 12 for project
Malawi -Malawi's Daily Times, by DANIEL NYIRENDA -6 Apr 2006: -- Malawi Posts Corporation (MPC) is reluctant to register a fleet of 12 buses with the Road Traffic Directorate because the vehicles, purchased with World Bank funds, have several shortfalls and are unusable... According to a letter in our possession from Transport Manager Robert Cheleuka, the buses have several shortfalls related to non-compliance to specifications... The contract to supply the buses was won by Leyland Exports of United Kingdom at a value of US$263,748 but the supplied buses were manufactured in Mainland China...
