Transit system at risk of losing federal money

Nichols -Mar 11, 2006: -- Calaveras Transit, the county's public bus system, lost more money in 2005 than the year before, according to the agency's latest semiannual report... Officials here expect the agency to lose money but have been trying to keep the public subsidy at 90 percent or less of the cost of running the buses... But revenue declined and spending increased in 2005. Riders paid only about 7.5 percent of the system's cost last year...
