* Two-thirds of bus services face axe if tram plan gets go-ahead
Scotland, UK -Scotsman, by ALAN RODEN -30 Jan 2006: UP to two-thirds of bus services will be axed from key routes through the city if trams get the go-ahead... A new study into the impact of trams has revealed that at least 31 buses will be taken off the roads every hour in areas such as Leith Walk. The hugely successful airport bus link will also be cut back by 50 per cent...
* Private Guards Patrolling Moscow's Buses
Moscow,Russia -The Moscow Times, by Francesca Mereu -Jan 31, 2006: Security guards wearing black and carrying handcuffs and teargas surfaced on Moscow buses and trams last week with a mission to protect passengers from fake ticket inspectors, troublemakers and shoddily dressed riffraff... The guards work for two private security firms that Mosgortrans, Moscow's surface transportation authority, has hired for a trial run of 10 days. Although the two-member patrols might look imposing, they are vested with very limited power to enforce order, Mosgortrans said...
* Sniffer dogs to be used on buses
Middlands,UK - BBC News -30 Jan 2006: Police sniffer dogs will now be making patrols on buses.Sniffer dogs are to be used on buses in the Birmingham area to try to stop passengers using drugs... It follows criticism that bus companies were not taking action to stop people smoking cannabis on their services...

The fine will go to the Maintenance of Cleanliness Regulations (Cleanliness Maintenance Fund) (1986)... Dan also signed a NIS 400,000 guarantee not to commit similar violations for three years...
