Prevention - UK - Crackdown to take crime off the buses
UK -Borehanwood Times, by Louisa Barnett -19 Dec 2005: -- More than 4,000 bus passengers were checked by police last week in a crackdown on crime on public transport in Borehamwood... Four arrests were made and 73 penalty fare notices were issued. Nineteen people were also summonsed to appear in court for serious travel infringements. Passengers were questioned for crimes ranging from general nuisance and anti-social behaviour to forged or stolen tickets... This is the third operation of its kind carried out this year, with further checks planned for next year in the hope of reducing low-level crime on the town's buses...
