Bus 'moving without driver'

Storms River, South Africa -News24, by Cindy Preller and Yolande Hayward -22 Dec 2005: -- This was the exclamation of a shocked Ilene James, a passenger on a Translux bus that ran off the road and overturned while travelling from Cape Town to Durban on Wednesday morning... Police have not been able to determine the cause of the accident, but James alleged that she saw the bus driver get up to fetch a cooldrink from a fridge on the bus... Elizabeth Sieglaar, one of the passengers who were woken up by James's exclamation, allegedly also saw the bus driver rush back to the empty driver's seat... Sieglaar said 'Truck driving in wrong lane', but the driver's efforts to get the bus back on the road were too late... According to Newman the bus driver swerved to avoid an oncoming truck that was driving in the wrong lane... About the allegation that the driver had got up to fetch a cooldrink from a fridge, he said none of the Translux buses are equipped with a fridge in the driver's cabin...
