University hopes to ease campus traffic crunch for students, employees

Smith, a senior at Belmont University, took advantage of a new program that his school and the Nashville Metropolitan Transit Authority are offering. Starting this week, Belmont students and employees can ride free on city buses...
"That's very cool," said Smith, a music business major from Chicago. "The parking situation here (on campus) is pretty much less than desirable"... MTA officials said last week was their busiest since 1989, with 149,000 riders — up 22% from the average of 122,000... He gets work done when he rides the bus to the office, he said, and "I get to work in a lot better mood"...
