After years in operation, card system continues to draw complaints of errors and inconvenience

Singapore -News Today,by Ansley Ng -May 20 2005: -- ... A few weeks ago, she was overcharged on her ez-link card three times in a week... In the last incident, she was overcharged 30 cents for a bus ride from Raffles Place to Owen Road... "They should throw this system away and bring back the old one of the farecard. Or bring back the coin system of paying for fares"... Bus companies would probably object to her suggestions... Before the ez-link system, companies lost revenue to fare cheats and passengers who paid the wrong fares unintentionally... In 2002, for example, Singapore Bus Services and Trans-Island Bus Services claimed to have lost about $13 million yearly to commuters who did not pay the correct fare...
