PROFIT & REVENUES * China MediaExpress 1Q rise 19 pct, revenue doubles
Fuzhou,Fujian,China -Bloomberg/Business Week (USA) -15 May 2010: -- China MediaExpress Holdings Inc., which operates TV advertising on buses, said Friday that first-quarter earnings rose by 19 percent as revenue more than doubled... The company earned $8.9 million, or 27 cents per share, in the quarter, compared with a profit of $7.5 million, or 36 cents per share, in the same period a year earlier... Excluding a $9.2 million dividend on convertible preferred shares, China MediaExpress earned $18.1 million, or 54 cents per share... Revenue rose to $44.5 million from $18.8 million... The Chinese company also affirmed that it expects to earn, after one-time items, $71 million to $75 million for the year... REVENUES * UK - Stagecoach benefits from Megabus US expansion
London,UK -The Times Online, by David Robertson -October 29, 2008: -- Megabus, the low-cost bus service that operates in the UK and North America, has helped Stagecoach to increase revenues as passengers look for cheaper forms of transport... Stagecoach, said in a trading update this morning that like-for-like revenue growth in the UK was up 9.2 per cent in the 24 weeks to mid-October. Sales in the United States benefited from the continued expansion of the Megabus brand and revenue was up 8.4 per cent in the five months to the end of September... Stagecoach launched its no-frills Megabus brand in the US two years ago and the company believes that it has benefited from higher motoring costs, which have encouraged people to look for alternative means of transport... * Stagecoach trading 'resilient'
London,UK -The Press Association -29 Oct 2008: -- Transport group Stagecoach said it believed its portfolio of bus and rail operations should be "relatively resilient" in an economic downturn... The South West Trains firm told investors it was trading in line with expectations, with half-year like-for-like revenues growth of 9.2% for its UK bus operations and a rise of 8.3% in UK rail... Trading updates from a number of transport firms in recent days have so far revealed little evidence that operators are being affected by job losses in London's financial district and elsewhere... Edinburgh,Scotland,UK -The Edinburgh News, by JANE BRADLEY -16 May 2007: -- Transport company FirstGroup today announced pre-tax profits rose 11 per cent to £195.8 million, boosted by a strong performance in its UK rail division and despite a £37.1m hike in fuel costs... Britain's biggest bus and train operator, which owns First ScotRail as well as one of the country's major bus companies, said its UK train division had delivered its best ever year of growth, with profits rising by 36.7 per cent to £108.8m...
