Free Ride * India - DTC offers one to women on Bhai Duj

New Delhi,India -ND TV/Press Trust of India -November 6, 2010: -- Women in the city will be able to travel in Delhi Transport Corporation buses for free on Sunday on the occasion of Bhai Duj, Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit announced on Saturday... The decision has been taken to ensure that women could reach to the places of their brothers without any hassle, she said... Transport Minister Arvinder Singh said women would be allowed free ride in all DTC ordinary buses and non-air conditioned low-floor buses till 5:00 PM on Sunday... The DTC has been offering free ride to women on Rakshabandhan and Bhai Duj for the last few years...

Monroe County Transit Uuthority decided with the tight economy to allow people to ride for free including those heading to a county job fair... "I am trying to find a job," said Rickie Bennett while waiting for the Pocono Pony. Bennett has been out of work for months but thanks to a free ride from the Monroe County Transit Authority he might be on track to get a job... Bennett and hundreds of other job seekers boarded MCTA buses Tuesday for a free ride to the CareerLink job fair at Fernwood Resort near Bushkill...

FREE RIDES * China - Bus firm offers for elderly

A Beijing bus operator will allow 1.6 million people aged 65 and above to travel free on its buses from Jan 1

Beijing,China -The China Daily, by Wang Qian -10 Dec 2008: -- Peng Zilin, director of publicity for Beijing Public Transport Holdings Ltd (BPT), said Tuesday all the company's buses have been renovated to ensure that more than 10 percent of seats are reserved for the elderly, children, pregnant women, and the disabled... BPT statistics show there were 1.6 million people aged 65 or above at the end of last year, and this figure will grow to 1.9 million by 2010... Before the middle of this month, all BPT drivers and conductors will have to pass a test on the new rules... Peng said drivers and conductors were also told buses must not be driven until all needy passengers are given seats... It is not compulsory for a passenger to give up a seat, and such requests by drivers and conductors are often ignored... Peng said he hoped passengers would abide by the company new rules...
