* Manila - 40 colorum buses apprehended

(Photo: Oplan Goliath, a crackdown on colorum PUVs) Manila,Philippines -Business World -June 30, 2014: -- The Government is poised to receive about P40 million from the apprehended illegally operating “colorum” buses nationwide since the implementation of stiffer penalties... “As of now, we’ve apprehended 40 buses, which are under adjudication, meaning they have five days to contest,” Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) Chairman Winston M. Ginez said on the sidelines of a media briefing in Manila yesterday... Early this month, the LTFRB and Land Transportation Office (LTO) signed a Joint Administration Order (JAO) imposing higher penalties for colorum vehicles, or those that operate outside the parameter of the regulatory bodies, which started on June 19... The JAO states that colorum bus operators will be fined P1 million; truck and van operators, P200,000; sedan operators, P120,000; jeepney owners, P50,000; and motorcycle operators, P6,000...
