* Nebraska - 5 new buses to save city $1.3 million
Lincoln,NEB,USA -The Lincoln Journal Star, by CHRIS HEADY -June 13, 2014: -- Five new StarTran buses powered by compressed natural gas were revealed Friday morning... The new StarTran buses are set to save the city $1.3 million over their 15-year lifetimes, with reduced maintenance and fuel costs, Mayor Chris Beutler said. They will produce 25 percent less greenhouse gas emissions than the buses they are replacing, which use diesel fuel... The city will deploy eight more of the buses during the next two years, as well as 11 Handi-Vans run on compressed natural gas, eventually making up a third of StarTran's fleet...
