Inspectors discover faults on half after random check
Belfast,UK -The Belfast Telegraph -March 21, 2008: -- Nearly half of school buses checked when Department of Environment safety inspectors swooped unannounced were found to have defects, the North West Telegraph can reveal today... Defects were found in 17 out of 40. Two buses were immediately impounded while the DoE said today it was considering legal action in seven cases... One vehicle had a braking fault, five had a defective windscreen, one had an emergency exit which would not open and one had no fire extinguisher. Some buses had more than one defect...
