* Australia - Drivers to strike over bus attacks
Darwin,Northern Territory,Australia -The Northern Territory News, by NICK CALACOURAS -12 Dec 2007: -- Darwin bus drivers are set to strike on Friday following allegations that drivers and passengers are not protected from violent attacks... Transport Workers Union members yesterday voted in favour of the 24-hour strike, which would last from 12:01am to 11:59pm... Transport Minister Delia Lawrie will meet the union this afternoon and ask it to postpone the industrial action until the school holidays start next week... Union organiser Ian Gallacher said the security officers who had been on buses for over a year have no power to kick people off the bus or fine passengers for bad behaviour...
