AGE - AUSTRALIA - Age of school buses blasted
Australia -NEWS.com.au, by Charles Waterhouse -May 31 2005: -- FEW countries in the world would have a school bus fleet as old as the 25-year average age of Tasmania's fleet, says a national industry leader... the operators ensured the buses were kept roadworthy and safe to carry schoolchildren each day but the technology on later-model vehicles made them safer... "A vehicle that is 25, 29, 30 years old ... a vehicle that old should not be in service in my view," Mr Lucas said.
