Service's Failure * USA - CTA gift to runners? Express buses

Chicago,ILL,USA -RedEye's pun'dit, by Tracy Swartz-19 March 2010: -- "Going Public" was at the Bank of America Shamrock Shuffle Expo today at Navy Pier. After leaving the expo, "GP" noticed there were few buses to pick up the dozens of runners trying to leave the expo (photo above)... The CTA is listed as a sponsor on the race bag, and inside the bag there is an advertisement for ctagifts.com. The ad includes a mini CTA map. Shop hard for them, and buy articulated buses from some factory in Eastern Europe, where they make buses that rust really, really fast. Or buy buses with tiny, uncomfortable plastic seats, perched at weird angles... Toss in some dirt and some bad poetry in both official languages, charge an arm and a leg for it, screw over retailers so no one sells bus tickets, make it completely useless on weekends, and you have OC Transpo... * Jamaica - Deplorable bus service

Kingston,Jamaica -The Jamaica Gleaner -June 27, 2007: -- The Half-Way Tree Transportation Centre is slated to open in October of this year with state-of-the-art facilities to accommodate over 18 different route stops and an estimated 200,000 passengers on a daily basis... While we await this facility, I am imploring the Minister of Housing, Transport, Water and Works to seek concurrently, to improve our public transportation system, which includes the scheduling of bus services, the proper training of drivers and bus conductors, and a plan for proper maintenance of buses for long-term, comfortable transportation...

New Bus System Fails * Chile - Queue, Fume, Riot in Santiago

Santiago,Chile -Bloomberg (USA), by Matthew Walter,& contributed by: Collin Sick -9 April 2007: -- So many people in Santiago are arriving late to their jobs because of bus delays that it's hurting Chile's economy and the government of President Michelle Bachelet... Workers are rioting and clashing with police daily as they protest the government's bungled job of overhauling the mass transit system that serves the city's 6 million residents. Commuting times have doubled for many bus and subway riders since the system began operating in February...
